WATERLINE REPLACEMENT IN QUAIL FOREST SECTIONS 1 & 2
Dear Residents, the Grant Road PUD has undertaken a project to replace all the water lines in the Quail Forest Sections 1 & 2. This does not affect Quail Park. The waterlines are 40+ years old and require frequent repair so, at the recommendation of the District’s engineer and operator, the Board authorized $1,342,828 to replace the lines. The project is funded from the District’s 2024 bond sale.
The contractor is Horseshoe Construction Inc. Horseshoe has begun assembling pipe sections at the south end of Quail Forest Drive and will begin replacing lines starting July 21. The project will be done in phases. There are expected to be eight phases, each of which take approximately six weeks. The project is estimated to be completed by May 2026. A map of each phase with schedule will be posted ahead of construction at the District’s website at https://www.grantroadpud.org/, and through the HOA.
During each phase a 2-inch black plastic water bypass line will be installed above ground across yards and driveways. The bypass line allows water service to be maintained while the meters and main lines are being replaced. Each home will have a temporary service line from the bypass to the meter. The lines will be disinfected and tested before being placed in service. Ramps will be placed over the line in roads and driveways for ease of access.
The contractor will notify residents at least 24 hours prior to working in your yard by door hanger and a visit to your home to explain how the project will affect your lot. Replacing the meters and service lines will require digging in yards at the meter location. Replacing main lines will require a bore pit at the valve locations, not in every yard. If excavation needs to be open overnight, the area will be covered if possible and orange construction fence placed around it. Video of the neighborhood has been taken to document the pre-project condition of yards. The contractor will restore any affected turf and landscaping features when each section is completed.
The District’s Operator, MMIA, who is responsible for maintaining the District’s water system will be onsite during construction to replace meters and service lines and is the best contact for concerns about your water service. Their contact is listed below. For questions about construction or schedule you may contact Horseshoe or the District’s Engineer, listed below.
